Parliament session disrupted by opposition, meeting adjourned

KATHMANDU: The scheduled federal parliament session faced disruption and was subsequently adjourned due to obstruction from opposition parties.

Opposition members, pressing for information regarding the Balkumari incident and demanding the resignation of the involved Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, obstructed the parliament meeting on Friday.

Initially, the meeting has been adjourned for 15 minutes in an attempt to resolve the situation.

During the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, CPN-UML lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai voiced the party’s demand for the government to present the report related to the incident in parliament and sought clarity on pertinent questions surrounding it.

The investigation commission, tasked with probing the incident in which two youths lost their lives after police opened fire, held Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala responsible for the incident.
