KATHMANDU: Nepal experienced heavy rainfall in the lower belt accompanied by snowfall in high hills and mountainous regions, marking Thursday’s precipitation as the most substantial of this winter season.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Thursday’s rainfall was the heaviest recorded so far this winter, with Makwanpur receiving the highest amount at 28.2 millimeters.

The division noted that the hilly region received more rainfall compared to the Terai region, with the heaviest rainfall observed in mid-hill areas of Bagmati Province, particularly Kavre, Godawari, and Sindhuli.

In the Terai region, Chitwan and Dang received relatively higher rainfall compared to other areas, while the Koshi Province experienced lesser rainfall.

Detailed information regarding Thursday’s rainfall is currently being collected and is yet to be disclosed.

As sporadic rainfall and cloudy conditions persist across various parts of the country today, attributed to the partial influence of the westerly low-pressure system, the Meteorological Division predicts clearer skies from Saturday onwards.

Currently, the hilly regions, including Koshi Province, are experiencing cloudy weather.
