KMC bans parking in New Road area starting today

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has initiated a ban on parking along the black-topped roads in the New Road area of Kathmandu effective from today.

To ease the transition, the metropolis has designated a free parking facility at Kathmandu Tower with a capacity for 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers for individuals visiting the New Road area.

In conjunction with the parking restrictions, the metropolis is gearing up to launch a specialized sanitation program in the designated area.

The restricted zone encompasses areas around Dharma Path, Juddha Statue to Indra Chowk, Kichhapokhari, MahaBoudha, and Bir Hospital.

This move follows the successful implementation of a parking prohibition order in the Janche area.

The KMC aims to enhance the overall traffic management and pedestrian experience in the New Road area with these measures.
