Dense fog blankets Terai; snowfall expected in high hills

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a partial effect of westerly winds in Nepal, leading to varied weather conditions across the country.

While most parts of Nepal are currently experiencing clear weather, the hilly areas have witnessed a partial change.

The Terai-Madhesh region, however, is grappling with dense fog, affecting visibility in many places.

A cold wave has also gripped some districts in Madhesh province.

This afternoon, the hilly areas are expected to have clear weather with partial to normal showers.

There’s a possibility of snowfall in the high hills and mountains of some parts of the country.

The Division has also predicted light snowfall tonight in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Cautioning the public, the Division has warned of potential snowfall in the highlands and Himalayan areas, coupled with widespread fog in the Terai.

These weather conditions may disrupt daily life, impact health, and affect transportation and air services, it said.

As temperatures continue to drop, the Division has urged the public to take necessary precautions to cope with the increasing cold.
