Over 130,000 spectators watched NPL matches in Kirtipur

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Premier League (NPL) drew an estimated 130,000 spectators to the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur over the course of 32 matches.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has reported that the spectators came not only from the Kathmandu Valley but also from various districts, including Janakpur, Sudurpaschim, and areas represented by the eight participating franchises.

CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama told Khabarhub, “Although the final data is yet to be compiled, we estimate that around 130,000 to 135,000 spectators attended the matches.”

Lama further mentioned that over 60,000 of these spectators traveled from outside the valley to watch the games, particularly to support their favorite teams.

“The number of spectators exceeded our expectations. The presence of fans, especially from outside Kathmandu, has been a great boost, and the foreign players have been equally fascinated by the large turnout,” said Lama.
