TikTok video turns tragic: Two die in Tehrathum

TEHRATHUM: A 23-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl lost their lives after falling into a river while filming a TikTok video in Tehrathum.

Police reported that the two died while filming near the riverbank, according to RSS.

On Saturday afternoon, Rabina Rajbanshi, a 23-year-old nurse at Gaukhuri Secondary School in Menchhyayem Rural Municipality-5, and Sushmita Bhattarai, a 13-year-old grade 7 student at the same school, went to a nearby river to film a TikTok video.

While doing so, they slipped and fell into the river.

Kamal Sapkota, the Vice Principal of the school, explained that the two had gone to the Khorangwa River to enjoy their holiday when the accident occurred.

The pair slipped while filming on the riverbank and were swept away by the current.

The bodies of the victims, which had been carried downstream, were recovered later that evening.

District Police Office Chief Chinimaya Tamang confirmed that the bodies would be handed over to the families on Sunday.
