Arrest warrant issued against RSP Chair Lamichhane

An arrest warrant has been issued against Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former home minister.

The bench of the District Court in Pokhara, led by Judge Krishna Jung Shah, issued the warrant related to Lamichhane’s involvement in cooperatives while managing Gorkha Media Network, owned by GB Rai.

Former Deputy Inspector General Chhabi Lal Joshi, who runs the network, has also been arrested today after police issued an urgent warrant.

Former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi arrested in cooperative fraud case, taken to Pokhara

Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabi Lal Joshi, arrested in connection with the misappropriation of Surya Darshan Cooperative’s savings, is being taken to Pokhara.

Joshi was arrested in Shankhamul, Kathmandu, and is being flown to Pokhara on a Buddha Air flight scheduled for 8 pm, on Sunday.

In connection with the case, police have also dispatched a team to arrest Rabi Lamichhane, former Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network and Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Durga Prasai apprehended under ETA

Durga Prasai, the director of B&C Medical College, Jhapa,  has been arrested by the Nepal Police on a charge of violating the Electronic Transaction Act (ETA)-2008.

A squad from the Cyber Bureau of the Nepal Police arrested him from Bhaktapur, according to Bureau Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police, Deepak Raj Awasthi.

A complaint was filed against Prasai at the Bureau under the Electronic Transaction Act. The Bureau took permission from the Kathmandu District Court to arrest him.

Durga Prasai supporters clash with Police during court appearance

Supporters of medical college owner Durga Prasai obstructed police officers during his court appearance.

Prasai, who had been taken to hospital from the Cyber Bureau, was being escorted back to the court when his supporters attempted to block the police.

The confrontation led to the arrest of four individuals who raised slogans and obstructed police efforts. Authorities confirmed that Prasai was successfully presented in court despite the unrest.

Gold price reaches historic highs again

The price of gold has continued to surge since September, reaching new heights once again in the third week of this month.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, gold is being traded at an all-time high on Sunday.

Today, the price soared to Rs 158,800 per tola, surpassing the previous record of Rs 157,300 per tola.

Finance Minister Paudel and IMF Deputy Director hold courtesy meeting

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Rupa Duttagupta, the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s Deputy Director for Asia Pacific Region, held a courtesy meeting at the Ministry of Finance today.

On the occasion, the IMF Deputy Director said that she has found Nepal’s economy was improving.

She expressed that she is encouraged by reforms in the investment facilitation laws, execution of the revenue mobilization strategy and the implementation of various suggestions related to the economy, Finance Minister Paudel’s Secretariat stated.
