Women’s Asia Cup: Nepal to face India on Tuesday



KATHMANDU – Nepal is gearing up to take on India in a crucial match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup Cricket on tomorrow (Tuesday).

In the final group stage encounter, Nepal will clash with a formidable opponent, India.

Having won their opening match against UAE by 6 wickets, Nepal suffered a setback with a 9-wicket loss to Pakistan in their second match.

India currently leads Group A with four points and aims to maintain their winning streak.

Nepal faces immense pressure to secure a victory against India to advance to the next stage.

After completing the group stage matches, Nepal and Pakistan are tied with two points each based on run rate, securing second and third positions respectively with one win and one loss.

UAE, in the same group, has yet to score any points.

The match between Nepal and India will be held at Dambulla ground in Sri Lanka on Tuesday at 7:15 pm.

Eight teams are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups.

Nepal is placed in Group A alongside UAE, India, and Pakistan, including Test-playing nations.

In Group B, Sri Lanka and Thailand currently lead with two points each, followed by Bangladesh and Malaysia who are yet to score.

The top two teams from the group stage, after 12 matches, will advance to the semi-finals.

The final match between the winners of the semi-finals is scheduled for July 28.

Nepal’s Journey

Nepal achieved their first historic victory by defeating Sri Lanka in their opening match.

Similarly, Nepal faced a defeat against Pakistan in its second match, losing by 9 wickets after setting a target of 109 runs, which Pakistan achieved in just 11.5 overs.

Nepal aims to bounce back with a strong performance against India to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup Cricket tournament.

Led by captain Indu Barma, the team includes former captain Rubina Chhetri, as well as players Sita Ranamagar, Bindu Rawal, Kabita Kunwar, Puja Mahato, Kabita Joshi, Samjhana Khadka, Kajol Shrestha, Sabnam Rai, Rajmati Airee, Mamata Chaudhary, Kritika Marasini, Roma Thapa, and Dolly Bhatta.
