Prideful leaders and cadres can advance the nation, says Finance Minister

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barshaman Pun emphasized that the country’s advancement relies on respecting labor, achieving self-reliance in production, and having prideful leaders and cadres.

Speaking at the second assembly of the Achham-Kathmandu Liaison Coordination Committee of the CPN (Maoist Centre) on Saturday, Minister Pun highlighted the importance of incorporating production and employment generation programs into the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

Minister Pun stated that production growth is essential not for enriching a few individuals but for achieving development based on equality and social justice.

He emphasized that equality and social justice could be achieved by maintaining good governance and curbing corruption.

The Finance Minister noted that the upcoming fiscal year’s budget prioritizes agriculture, tourism, hydropower, information technology, and production sectors, with special focus given to all seven provinces.

Each province’s unique characteristics have been considered and incorporated into the budget to ensure balanced and inclusive development.

Minister Pun’s remarks underline the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth through strategic investment in key sectors and ensuring that development efforts are equitable and just.
