KATHMANDU: Actor and model Chhiring Sherpa has achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the summit of Mount Everest.

She conquered the world’s tallest peak on Sunday and marked the occasion by hoisting flags representing various organizations.

After scaling Sagarmatha, Sherpa emphasized the importance of raising awareness at both national and international levels to address the impacts of climate change in mountainous regions.

In a social media update announcing her successful climb, she advocated for allocating a portion of the revenues generated from mountaineering activities towards the development of these regions.

In her message, Sherpa urged for greater integration of the Sherpa community into all aspects of state governance, beyond just their role as climbers.

She called upon the government to prioritize the development of geographically remote mountainous areas and establish mechanisms for providing climbers with immediate access to essential information.

Furthermore, Sherpa highlighted the challenges posed by overcrowding on Everest and emphasized the need to professionalize the climbing industry for the benefit of all involved.
