KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has clarified that he does not hold any personal grudge against Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group (KMG).

Speaking at an event with journalists organized in Chandragiri on Wednesday morning, PM Dahal emphasized that there is no personal vendetta against Sirohiya and that he will be released easily through the judicial process.

“It is a judicial process; there is no need to create a fuss about it,” PM Dahal stated.

PM Dahal also refuted reports suggesting that Sirohiya’s arrest was driven by government grudges.

Kailash Sirohiya was arrested by police at the Thapathali office of Kantipur Media Group (KMG) on Tuesday.

The arrest follows the Dhanusha District Court’s decision to grant permission to district police for issuing an arrest warrant against Chairman Sirohiya in connection with a dual citizenship issue.

A team of the Valley Crime Investigation Office-led by SSP Sanu Ram Bhattari and SP Rabindra Regmi arrested Sirohiya on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrest warrant has been issued against Sirohiya following allegations of fraudulent citizenship submissions to multiple institutions.

It is reported that two citizenships bearing the same number, yet with different details, have surfaced, raising suspicions of identity fraud.

A complaint lodged at the Dhanusha District Police Office implicated Sirohiya in the acquisition of citizenship through deceptive means.

Sirohiya is being kept in the custody of District Police Office, Dhanusha following his arrest.
