Supporters of Sirohiya protest at District Police Office demanding his release

KATHMANDU: Supporters of Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), staged a sit-in protest at the District Police Office in Dhanusha, demanding his release.

The protest included individuals from various organizations such as the Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Nepali Congress, and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

Kailash Sirohiya was arrested on Tuesday at the Thapathali office of Kantipur Media Group.

The arrest followed the Dhanusha District Court’s decision to grant permission for an arrest warrant in connection with a dual citizenship issue.

A team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office, led by SSP Sanu Ram Bhattari and SP Rabindra Regmi, arrested Sirohiya on Tuesday afternoon.

The warrant was issued following allegations that Sirohiya submitted fraudulent citizenship documents to multiple institutions.

Reports indicate that two citizenship certificates bearing the same number but with different details have surfaced, raising suspicions of identity fraud.

A complaint lodged at the Dhanusha District Police Office implicated Sirohiya in acquiring citizenship through deceptive means.

Sirohiya is currently being held in the custody of the District Police Office in Dhanusha.
