MYAGDI: The road linking Mustang district headquarters, Jomsom, with religious tourism site and the center of Muktichhetra rural municipality, Kagbeni is being blacktopped.

The 13-km-long Jomsom-Kagbeni road has been widened to 11 meters and is being blacktopped with the use of asphalt technology.

The Rautah-Atreya JV was awarded a contract of Rs 281.4 million in August 2022 for blacktopping the Jomsom-Kagbeni section along the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, the national pride project.

Project manager of Contractor Company’s Rautah, Sanjay Bhatta, said that prime coat has been placed to blacktop the two-kilometer road in Eklebhatti area.

“We have already placed prime coat in two kilometers,” he said, adding, “We have imported pips, bitumen and managed necessary equipment.”

The task of keeping the base and sub-base has been completed, he shared, adding, “We have made preparations to blacktop the Jomsom to Kagbeni section within the current fiscal year”.

The company having a contract of 18 years had paced the given task after frequent warning from the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project to confiscate the deposit and blacklist the contractor.

According to project chief Dhruba Kumar Jha, gravelling has been made in 75-km out of the 110-km road connecting Jomsom to Korala bordering Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

Almost 85 percent of the 25-km-long Charang-Chhoser section has been completed.

Jha said that all the sections connecting Jomsom-Korala border will be graveled after the up-gradation of this section.
