Prime Minister Dahal urges focus on producing skilled health workforce

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the importance of prioritizing the production of highly skilled human resources in the healthcare sector, stressing the necessity to uphold international standards without compromise on quality.

Speaking at the 13th meeting of the Medical Education Commission, the Prime Minister underscored the need to produce quality healthcare professionals by aligning with both national and international requirements.

PM Prachanda emphasized the importance of ensuring harmony between the skilled workforce produced and the availability of decent job opportunities.

“The Commission must proactively work towards meeting and implementing quality standards. In addition to increasing the number of skilled professionals, it is equally crucial to meet the minimum standards of teaching and learning,” directed the Prime Minister.

PM Prachanda also envisioned Nepal’s education system transforming into a hub of excellence for foreign students seeking medical education.

The growing influx of foreign students to Nepal, as indicated in the Commission’s report, serves as evidence of Nepal’s attractiveness as a destination for medical education, remarked the Prime Minister.
