CHITWAN: The National GreenShift Project Nepal, an innovative initiative spearheaded by CREASION to facilitate a smooth transition to a circular economy and promote the circularity of plastic waste for achieving Net-Zero Carbon Nepal, has been officially inaugurated in Nepal with generous support from the European Union.
The GreenShift Nepal project, spanning four years, is set to be implemented across nine municipalities—three in each of the Bagmati, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces, as outlined by CREASION.
Masina Khadka, the Minister of Forest and Environment for the Bagmati Province, expressed her profound satisfaction with the collaborative efforts aimed at addressing waste management and supporting waste workers in Nepal.
She eagerly anticipates witnessing the positive impact of the project in the years to come and pledged her full support for its successful implementation.
Khadka also affirmed the Bagmati provincial government’s commitment to actively contribute to the project’s endeavors and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with CREASION.
Eloisa Astudillo, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nepal, emphasized the pivotal role of harnessing youth energy to drive the circularity of plastic waste, a top priority for the EU.
She expressed her enthusiasm for witnessing groundbreaking initiatives unfold in the project provinces over the project’s duration.
Former Minister for the Environment, Science, and Technology, Ganesh Shah, commended CREASION and the EU for their commendable initiative, describing it as an inspiring, revolutionary, and result-oriented step toward motivating youth and safeguarding the planet.
Aanand Mishra, Founder & President of CREASION, reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to promoting the circularity of plastic waste for achieving Net-Zero Carbon Nepal, stressing the importance of collective and compassionate efforts to reach the net-zero emission target.
Prashant Bista, Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, underscored the necessity for more initiatives like GreenShift Project and emphasized the pivotal role of youth in advancing a sustainable future for all.
Social entrepreneur Anil Chitrakar highlighted the accountability of youth in driving long-term social change and expressed confidence that their active involvement in such endeavors will inspire future generations to embrace sustainability.
The inauguration event also featured ten climate-smart entrepreneur stalls, including Kanduk Industry and Eco-Revive, showcasing eco-friendly and sustainable products.
Notably, CREASION’s stall exhibited jackets made from 100% recycled PET bottles, demonstrating innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
