KATHMANDU: Preliminary investigations into the Sinamangal incident suggest that extramarital affairs were the primary motive behind the tragic events that unfolded.

Raju Ghimire, also known as Kaji BK, took his own life in a nearby jungle after brutally murdering his wife, daughter, and granddaughter in Sinamangal on Wednesday.

In a chilling video recorded by Kaji post-murder, he confesses to the crime and reveals details of his wife Ishwori Shrestha’s extramarital affairs.

Hailing from Dudh Kunda Municipality-10 of Solukhumbu district and currently residing in a rented room at Sitapaila, 38-year-old Ishwori Shrestha had filed a rape complaint against a man back in Magh 2080 BS.

Following an investigation, Ramesh Shrestha was arrested on charges of rape, but he was later released on bail of Rs 500,000.

According to Kaji’s son, a dispute erupted between Kaji and Ishwori on Tuesday night regarding ‘a boy from Chitwan’.

The following day, Kaji sent his son to a shop before committing the heinous act, which claimed the lives of his wife, 8-year-old daughter Anisha, and 2-year-old granddaughter Siwani.

Kaji BK was Ishwori Shrestha’s second husband.

An official involved in the investigation stated, “So far, the reason behind the murder seems to be an extramarital affair.”

Kaji is reported to have used a hammer to strike Ishwori’s head and stabbed her chest with scissors. Additionally, he employed a rope to strangle his daughter to death and used scissors to fatally wound his granddaughter.
