Clash in Rajbiraj leaves Education Minister and three MPs injured

JANAKPURDHAM: A clash erupted in Rajbiraj on Monday between Janamat party activists and police, resulting in injuries to Mahesh Prasad Yadav, the Minister for Education and Culture of Madhes province, along with three lawmakers.

The incident unfolded when Janamat Party activists obstructed the inauguration program of the Province Agriculture University.

In the course of events, Education Minister Yadav, along with province MPs Satish Singh, Ranju Khang, and Bhagyashree Chaudhary, sustained injuries in the clash, as reported by Janamat’s Secretary BP Sah.

According to District Police Office Saptari spokesperson DSP Dhundi Raj Neupane, force was used to maintain law and order when some individuals attempted to obstruct the inauguration program of the Province Agriculture University Building.

DSP Neupane added that Janamat cadres used force against the police during the clash.

Education Minister Yadav had requested the Madhes government to postpone the program as differences in opinion between him and Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav surfaced recently.

CM Yadav wanted Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav to lay the foundation stone for the university building, while the Education Minister wanted Janamat Party Chairman Dr. CK Raut to lead the inauguration event.

Earlier, Education Minister Yadav issued a statement urging the cancellation of the program, while Janamat Chairman Raut communicated to the Ministry of Home Affairs to halt the event.

Despite this, the inauguration of the university building took place with Upendra Yadav as the main guest on Monday.
