KATHMANDU: Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City has increased its budget for the current fiscal year 2024-25 by Rs 199.7 million, bringing the total allocation to Rs 2.72 billion.

The decision to amend and increase the budget was made during the 16th session of the municipal assembly. Initially, the city had allocated Rs 2.52 billion on June 24 for the fiscal year.

The budget revision aims to implement the city’s policies and programs effectively and enhance the living standards of its residents, according to Sabin Neupane, spokesperson for the sub-metropolitan city.

Neupane stated that the additional funds would cover salaries and allowances for employees and public representatives, fuel and maintenance of buses, operational and administrative costs, incentives for early childhood development teachers and school employees, child-friendly local governance campaigns, and payments for multi-year plans.

The increase is based on proposals submitted by thematic committees. The funds will be managed through revenue generated from the excavation and sale of riverine products, internal revenue sources, and support from federal and provincial governments.

In the first five months of the fiscal year, the sub-metropolis collected Rs 2.06 billion in revenue from various sources.

During the same period, the city spent 21.12 percent of its total budget.
