KATHMANDU: Chairman of Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, has claimed that various conspiracies are underway to undermine the opposition in Parliament.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prachanda emphasized that these conspiracies aim to diminish the opposition’s strength within Parliament.

He acknowledged that fluctuations in parliamentary numbers are natural following elections but argued that the Maoists remain a formidable force in terms of political ideology and agenda.

Prachanda addressed the recent portrayal of the “People’s War” as a violent act, asserting that the resistance will persist until this characterization is revoked.

He highlighted that the achievements and challenges stemming from the people’s war are collective concerns for all Maoists, urging unity among the party’s factions.

Despite declaring numerous martyrs, he lamented that the sacrifices of the people’s war have not been recognized as national martyrs due to the lack of formal acknowledgment in the gazette.

Furthermore, he expressed hope that following the passage of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) bill, efforts to establish a national day for the people’s war will gain momentum, anticipating a reevaluation by the court.

Prachanda noted that a task force has been established to address the TRC, and based on its consensus, the TRC law has been formulated.

He stated that their current focus is on forming the necessary commissions.

He concluded by emphasizing that once these commissions are created and the peace process is advanced with capable leadership, it will pave the way for national recognition and compensation for the families of martyrs and the missing.
