TANAHU: The compensation distribution process of the land required for the construction of the tower of the electricity transmission line under the substation to be built through the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal Development Committee (MCA Nepal) has been started.

Under the 400 KV power transmission project run by MCA Nepal, the compensation distribution process for the land required for the construction of the tower of the power transmission line under the new Butwal substation section from Ratmate substation to Damauli substation has been started.

The District Administration Office (DAO) published a notice on Ashwin 1 and requested the landowners who received compensation to submit an application to the DAO or MCA Nepal’s Tanahun District Liaison Office or the Project’s Public Information Center within 21 days from the date of publication of the notice along with proof of rights abuse.

Assistant Chief District Officer Kamal  Raj Bhandari informed that a person who is not satisfied with the information can file a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs within 15 days according to sub-section (2) of section 18 of the Land Acquisition Act, 2034.

The price determination committee meeting held at the administration office last Wednesday determined the final price of the land where the towers will be located under the transmission line.

Bhandari said that the meeting held in the presence of the heads of the local level of the affected area determined the fair price of the land where all the towers will be built within Tanahun district.

Around 199 towers will be constructed under Abunkhaireni Rural Municipality, Bandipur Rural Municipality, Byas Municipality, Rishing Rural Municipality and Ghiring Rural Municipality located in the district.

Bhandari stated that since some of those towers fall on government land and some on disputed land, the value of the land where the remaining towers are located, excluding those disputed towers, has been determined. The price determination committee said that before determining the price of the land, it inspected the land on site and discussed it several times.

Bhandari said that the compensation is determined according to the classification of the land. He explained that the valuation of the land was done considering the assessment set by the Land Revenue Office, the prevailing rates provided by the respective ward office, the valuation set by banks and financial institutions, the distance from roads, and the forest area.

Under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal Compact, an investment will be made to construct a 315-kilometer transmission line from Lapsiphedi in Kathmandu to the Nepal-India border in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) as part of the electricity transmission project. This will facilitate the flow of electricity to the substations being constructed at Ratamate, New Damauli, Lekhnath, and New Butwal.

Under this transmission line, there will be 199 towers in five municipalities of Tanahun.

MCA Nepal has signed the contract for the construction of 400 KV New Damauli Substation on 16th Shrawan. The New Damauli substation will act as an important point for electricity transmission along with Ratamate, Lekhnath and New Butwal substations.
