International Cardiologists’ Conference Continues in Chitwan



CHITWAN: The International Conference of Cardiologists, organized by the National Heart and Lung Society Nepal, is currently ongoing in Chitwan, with participation from experts representing Nepal, India, and the Maldives.

The conference, which began on Friday, is set to conclude later today. According to the President of the society Dr. Shankar Laudari, more than 200 people including cardiologists, resident doctors, general physicians and paramedics are participating in the conference.

The event, titled ‘First Ecocon Nepal’, focuses on cutting-edge heart video X-ray technology and its application in diagnosing and treating heart diseases. According to Dr. Shankar Laudari, President of the society, this is the first time such a conference has been held in Nepal.

On the first day, 12 people, including two Indian experts, presented a working paper on the state-of-the-art technology and developments related to video X-ray of the heart. Today, 20 people, including two Indian and one Maldivian expert doctor, are presenting different papers.

President of the society Dr. Laudari, former president Prof. Dr. Shyam Raj Regmi and Prof. Dr. Mani Gautam jointly inaugurated the conference on the first day. On the same occasion, the fourth journal published by the society was released.

The discussion is focused on the capabilities of heart video X-ray technology in diagnosing congenital heart defects, heart valve conditions, contractility issues, water coagulation diseases, and abnormalities in the major arteries. Experts have gathered from cities across Nepal, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, and Birganj, along with participants from Delhi, Chennai, and the Maldives.

He said that the conference will increase the quality of heart disease treatment. There will be an exchange of state-of-the-art technology and knowledge of heart video X-ray in different countries.

Dr. Laudari emphasized that the exchange of knowledge and state-of-the-art technology during the conference is expected to significantly improve heart disease treatment across the region. As heart and cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death globally, the importance of these discussions cannot be overstated, he said.
