KATHMANDU: Bhutan emerged victorious over the Maldives in today’s SAFF U-20 Football Championship match, held in Kathmandu.
The match, played at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, saw Bhutan defeat the Maldives 2-1.
With this win, both Bhutan and India, in Group ‘B’, have accumulated three points each, while the Maldives remains without any points.
Earlier, India had defeated Bhutan 1-0 in the first match of the group.
Bhutan’s goals were scored by Jignam Dorjee and Nowang Chopel, while Firak scored the lone goal for the Maldives.
Bhutan netted their first and second goals in the 22nd and 89th minutes, respectively, while the Maldives equalized in the 59th minute.
Host nation Nepal is set to face Bangladesh in a match at the same venue tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
