Madhav Nepal reminds Oli of past Parliament dissolution while extending best wishes

KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal extended his best wishes to Prime Minister KP Oli while reminding him of the previous dissolution of parliament.

Speaking on the proposal for a vote of confidence presented by Oli in the House of Representatives on Sunday, former Prime Minister Nepal recalled the dissolution of parliament that had occurred during Oli’s tenure.

Nepal urged Prime Minister Oli to reassess his actions.

Questioning why a government with nearly a two-thirds majority had collapsed in the past, Nepal noted that while some Nepali Congress leaders are happy about aligning with the UML, second and third-tier leaders and ordinary party workers are not.

He emphasized that in the name of political stability, the country is not seeking another Jung Bahadur Rana, expressing concerns that the centralization of power could lead to authoritarianism.
