Bagmati CM Jamkattel steps down

HETAUDA: Bagmati Province Chief Minister (CM) Shalikram Jamkattel has announced his resignation from his post while addressing the Provincial Assembly.

Jamkattel stated that he would step down following his address to the Parliament, citing an apparent lack of confidence in securing a vote of confidence.

Chief Minister Jamkattel, with the support of CPN-UML, Maoist Center, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, highlighted his tenure marked by multiple successful votes of confidence from the Bagmati Provincial Assembly.

Initially backed by six parties excluding Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party during his first vote of confidence, Jamkattel’s support waned over subsequent confidence votes.

Jamkattel admitted to losing power after failing to navigate the crisis effectively.
