Nepali Congress demands Deputy Speaker Rana’s resignation amid US visa allegations

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has called for the resignation of Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar amid allegations related to a US visa.

During a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday, NC lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada questioned Rana’s leadership capabilities in light of the allegations that she sought a visa appointment from the US Embassy with the intent of human trafficking.

Khatiwada urged Rana to step down from her position to facilitate the investigation of the allegations against her.

Additionally, he cautioned the parliament and the Speaker against acting like a visa consultancy.
