DANG: Chief Minister of Lumbini, Jokh Bahadur Mahara, is seeking a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly today.

The vote is scheduled to take place during the 24th meeting of the fourth session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, commencing at 1:00 pm, announced Secretary of the Provincial Assembly, Durlav Kumar Pun.

Following a shift in the power dynamics at the center, the UML withdrew its support from the government, necessitating Chief Minister Mahara to demonstrate a majority in the provincial assembly.

Currently, efforts are underway by the UML and Congress to form a new government in Lumbini. The UML commands 29 MPs and the Congress has 27.

Additionally, the Maoist Center holds 10 MPs, with four each from the small parties RPP and Nagarik Unmukti Party, three MPs each from Lokatantrik Samajbadi Party and Janamat Party, two MPs each from Ashok Rai’s Janata Samajbadi Party and Upendra Yadav’s Janata Samajbadi Party, along with one MP each representing CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha. There is also one independent member.

With a total of 87 MPs in the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, a majority requires the support of at least 44 MPs.
