Justice Malla questions legitimacy of parliamentary committee in DPM Lamichhane related case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) hearing on the writ petition seeking the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is underway.

The division bench comprising Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sharanga Subedi is hearing the case against Lamichhane.

Hearing on the writ petition filed against Home Minister Lamichhane, Justice Malla raised question about the legitimacy of letter of the Office of the Attorney General and parliamentary inquiry committee formed to investigate the cooperative scandal.

The bench has allocated one hour for arguments.

Anupam Bhattarai has already presented arguments on behalf of the petitioner, followed by Advocate Raman Karn.

Senior Advocates Surendra Bhandari and Dinesh Tripathi are scheduled to present their arguments next.

After the petitioner’s arguments conclude, the government’s and Lamichhane’s lawyers will present their cases.
