KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has lodged a corruption case against Sunil Paudel, the former managing director of Nepal Telecom, over alleged illegal property acquisition.

On Sunday, the CIAA filed the case in the Special Court, citing illegal property acquisition charges against Paudel.

The CIAA alleges that Paudel failed to account for the source of property valued at Rs. 237.5 million.

Paudel was apprehended by the CIAA on January 24 on embezzlement charges.

This marks the second case against Sunil Paudel.

Previously, the Special Court had found him guilty in the embezzlement case related to Payment Gateway, filed on October 2, 2023.

The Special Court is set to deliver the verdict on Paudel’s sentencing on May 7.
