Rupandehi in flames: 40 homes, 39 goats succumb to blazes across nine villages

KATHMANDU: The Tarai region of Nepal is witnessing a surge in fire incidents as the dry season progresses.

In the latest occurrence, fire outbreaks have been reported in nine villages of Rohini Rural Municipality-6 in Rupandehi district, as informed by Manohar Bhatta, spokesperson for the District Police Office.

The fire, which initially ignited in one village, rapidly spread to adjacent areas including Bishnu Pura, Parsa, Bhuchi, Barwa, Tarkula, Kotahawa, Chamkipur, and Pripahawa.

Despite swift intervention from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, local administration, and residents, approximately 40 houses and 39 goats fell victim to the flames.

Fortunately, no human casualties have been reported.

Bhatta further highlighted the increasing frequency of fire incidents across the district in recent days, signaling the urgent need for heightened vigilance and preventive measures.
