Govt actions only serve to discourage entrepreneurs and investors: Lawmaker Binod Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police recorded a statement from industrialist and Nepali Congress lawmaker Binod Chaudhary regarding the Bansbari land case.

Chaudhary voluntarily visited the public prosecutor’s office this morning, where he spent nearly two hours providing his statement to the CIB.

Upon exiting, Chaudhary expressed his concern over the politicization surrounding the land issue.

Asserting his family’s longstanding contributions to the nation’s industrial landscape spanning over 140 years, Chaudhary dismissed allegations regarding his interest in a mere 10 ropani of land as a manifestation of distorted perceptions.

Chaudhary emphasized the detrimental impact of such incidents on entrepreneurship and investment, stating, “These actions only serve to discourage entrepreneurs and investors.”

He further urged the state to consider the broader implications on the entrepreneurial spirit and taxpayer morale in Nepal.

Regarding the ongoing political theatrics, Chaudhary remarked that continually vouching for his character shouldn’t be necessary.

The CIB had summoned Chaudhary in connection with the alleged embezzlement of 10 ropani of land belonging to the Bansbari leather shoe factory situated in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3.

Previously, the CIB had arrested businessman Arun Chaudhary, along with executive chairman Ajitnarayan Singh Thapa and Sanjay Thakur, in connection with the same land case.
