Curfew partially relaxed in Birgunj

KATHMANDU: In response to prevailing security concerns, the curfew enforced in the Birgunj area has been partially relaxed.

The District Administration Office, Parsa, under the guidance of Chief District Officer (CDO) Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, has lifted the prohibitory order for a limited period today, from 6:00 am to 11:00 am.

CDO Bhusal stated that the decision to ease the curfew was made to facilitate the daily lives of local residents in the financial hub of the country.

However, he emphasized that the relaxation of the restrictive measures would be contingent upon the ongoing situation and necessity.

The curfew, initially imposed following the escalation of tensions during a demonstration organized by Hindu Samaj, has been effective since last Monday evening.

The clash between two opposing factions prompted the local administration to enforce an indefinite curfew.

The restricted areas encompass Nagawa Chowk in the east, Tilabe Bridge in the west, Parbanipur Parsa in the north, and Miteri Pul (Custom) in the south of Birgunj city.

Despite the easing of the curfew, authorities remain vigilant, closely monitoring the situation in Birgunj. As of now, the situation is reported to be normal, with measures in place to ensure the safety and security of residents.
