KATHMANDU: Nepal’s journey in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 encountered a rocky start as they lost three crucial wickets during the initial powerplay phase.

The first blow came at 6.1 overs into the game when opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel departed after a brief stint at the crease, managing only 18 runs.

Shortly after, the team suffered another setback as Anil Shah fell victim to a well-executed catch, having faced only two balls.

The woes deepened with Dev Khanal’s dismissal for a duck after facing just five deliveries.

As the first powerplay concluded, Nepal managed to accumulate 66 runs but at the cost of three wickets.

Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Malla are now tasked with steering the innings, holding steady with 34 and 12 runs respectively.

The decision to bat first was made after Namibia won the toss, opting to field.

Namibian bowlers BM Scholtz and JT Brassell proved to be formidable adversaries, claiming two and one wicket(s) respectively.

The match is currently underway at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, offering a gripping spectacle for cricket enthusiasts.
