District Court Judge Bhattarai resigns amid Judicial Council’s scrutiny

KATHMANDU: District Court Judge Parashuram Bhattarai has submitted his resignation following the Judicial Council’s investigation on him.

According to the Joint Spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Govinda Ghimire, Bhattarai conveyed his resignation to the Chief Justice through the Judicial Council on Friday.

“He tendered his resignation on Friday. However, further action on this matter has not progressed,” he stated.

It is a procedural requirement to approve the resignation of a judge after the submission.

Along with Judge Bhattarai, the Judicial Council had also initiated scrutiny against District Judges Ambika Niraula and Raj Kumar Koirala.

Following the preliminary investigation against the accused judges, the council formed a committee on December 24 to conduct additional inquiries.

Under the leadership of Justice Anand Mohan Bhattarai, the committee, consisting of Justices Prakash Dhungana and Til Prasad Shrestha, presented their findings on Friday regarding the scrutiny against the judges.
