Dr. Koirala dismisses speculations of bitterness with Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has dismissed rumors of any bitterness between him and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Koirala made this statement during his visit to Dhangadhi in Kailali on Friday, where he met with leaders and workers from Sudurpaschim Province.

According to District Secretary Bhim Bhatta, Koirala clarified that there were no personal issues between him and Deuba during a discussion with a team led by Congress Kanchanpur President Padam Bogati.

Koirala, as reported by Bhatta, explained that he had come to Dhangadhi at Deuba’s request to meet with Sudurpaschim leaders and activists.

During the discussions, Koirala also reiterated his candidacy for the presidency in the party’s upcoming 15th General Convention.

“I am the candidate for the presidency in the 15th General Convention. I was already a candidate in the 14th Convention and was the closest rival. Therefore, I am the natural contender,” Bhatta quoted Koirala as saying. “The party needs to unite now.”
