KATHMANDU: A delegation led by Chen Gang, a member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Secretary of Qinghai Province, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Oli during his visit to Nepal.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday morning.
The discussion focused on strengthening mutual relations between the two countries and their respective parties, Baluwatar sources said.
Prime Minister Oli highlighted the remarkable all-round development in China under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and General Secretary Xi Jinping, particularly in eradicating poverty.
He expressed Nepal’s desire to benefit from China’s development.
PM Oli also spoke about the formation of a new government through cooperation between the UML and the Nepali Congress to ensure political stability, expressing hope for China’s continued support in Nepal’s economic development.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing government-to-government, people-to-people, and commercial, cultural, and mythological relations between the two countries.
He also stressed the need to maintain high-level exchanges.
PM Oli reiterated Nepal’s commitment to the one-China policy, affirming that Nepali territory would not be used for any activities against China.
Chinese leader Chen Gang conveyed that his visit was under the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping.
He assured that China will always support Nepal’s happiness and prosperity, and he will respect the decisions made by Nepal’s political parties, relaying the discussions from his visit to the General Secretary.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Oli’s chief advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, UML Secretary and Head of Foreign Affairs Raghubir Mahaseth, department members Dr. Anjan Shakya and Gopal Khanal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Krishna Prasad Dhakal, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, among others.
