Doctors not allowed to work in private clinics during duty hour: Health Minister



CHITWAN: Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel has said that doctors are not allowed to work in private hospitals and clinics during their duty hours in government hospitals.

He said, talking to journalists in Chitwan today, “They should be available when working in the government hospital.”

Minister Paudel informed that the guidelines issued by the Ministry a few days ago are in the process of implementation in hospitals and departments.

He said that due to the implementation of the guidelines, some problems have been noticed and these will be solved soon.

The Health Minister stated that the government has moved forward to solve and manage the problems seen in the health sector.

He expressed his commitment to take the path of gradual improvement as the progress of the health sector cannot be felt overnight.

Minister Paudel said, “We have started many works such as making health services effective, managing health insurance, and adjusting the prices of medicines, and they are being implemented.”

He informed that the Ministry’s proposal to increase health insurance to Rs 500 thousand has been passed by the Council of Ministers and is ready to be implemented.

“Our proposal will be accepted by the Council of Ministers and immediately after the proposal is accepted, the insurance of Rs 500 thousand will be implemented,” the Health Minister added.
