KATHMANDU: A total of 190 people have lost their lives in monsoon-induced disasters across Nepal since June 10, according to Nepal Police.
The fatalities include three in the Kathmandu Valley, 27 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhes Province, 32 in Gandaki Province, 36 in Lumbini Province, 13 in Karnali Province, and 15 in Sudurpaschim Province.
The Nepal Police also reported that 238 people sustained injuries due to landslides and floods during this period.
The injured include 11 in the Kathmandu Valley, 38 in Koshi Province, 12 in Madhes Province, 23 in Bagmati Province, 45 in Gandaki Province, 18 in Lumbini Province, 57 in Karnali Province, and 34 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Since the beginning of this year’s monsoon on June 10, 114 people have been rescued from disaster-affected areas.
However, 149 individuals remain missing due to floods and landslides, with search operations ongoing.
Monsoon-triggered disasters have inundated 384 houses, 112 cowsheds, 51 bridges, four schools, and two government office buildings.
The number of households displaced by these disasters has reached 4,819 over the past two months.
