BUTWAL: Lumbini Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya is set to take a vote of confidence today.

A Provincial Assembly meeting has been scheduled for 1 pm for this purpose.

Acharya assumed office following a new coalition formed between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

His coalition includes support from UML, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Nepali Congress, the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), the Janamat Party, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, and an independent MP.

In the 87-member provincial assembly, the distribution of seats is as follows: UML with 29 MPs, Nepali Congress with 27, Maoist Center with 11, Nagarik Unmukti Party with 4, RPP with 4, LSA and Janamat each with 3, JSP and JSP Nepal each with 2, and one MP each from the Unified Socialist Party, Janamorcha, and an independent.

However, Chief Minister Acharya has been informed by the Maoist Center, RPP, Unified Socialist Party, and Rastriya Janamorcha that they will not support him in the vote of confidence.
