Provocative politics cannot forge national unity: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa said true unity in society cannot be achieved without ensuring rights for all, while rejecting the politics of provocation.

Speaking in a video message after visiting Sarlahi–4, where he is contesting the upcoming House of Representatives election, Thapa stressed that political engagement must be grounded in inclusivity and respect for citizens’ rights.

“I do not believe in the politics of provocation. Without securing rights, there cannot be unity among everyone,” Thapa said, highlighting his approach to both electoral politics and broader governance.

He added that his candidacy in Madhesh aims to bridge gaps between regions and communities, ensuring representation that is substantive rather than merely symbolic.
