Moderate to heavy rain likely today



KATHMANDU:  The Weather Forecasting Division has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, with the monsoon low-pressure line situated to the north of its normal position.

According to the Division, there is partial to general cloud cover across the country.

Some areas in the Bagmati, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as other locations in the remaining provinces, are experiencing light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy nationwide.

Light to moderate rain with lightning is likely in various places across all states, with a chance of heavy rainfall in a few locations in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and isolated areas in the other provinces.

Tonight, skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy throughout the country.

Light to moderate rain with lightning may occur in some areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini states, and a few locations in the remaining states.

The Division has also indicated a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Over the next 24 hours, there remains a risk of heavy rain in one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

The Division has urged residents to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with potential disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and erosion in these areas.
