KATHMANDU: The Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamakattel, is set to seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly on Sunday.

In response to CM Jamakattel’s trust motion, the CPN-UML has issued a whip to its lawmakers, directing them to be present at the provincial assembly meeting on Sunday and to vote against the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Jamakattel recently submitted a letter to the State Assembly Secretariat requesting a vote of confidence.

This move comes after five ministers from the CPN-UML resigned from the provincial government following recent changes in the federal government, leaving the government in a minority position.

Subsequently, the UML ended its alliance with the Maoist Center and formed a new coalition with the Nepali Congress, reshaping the political landscape in the province.

Jamakattel, representing the Maoist Center, assumed the role of Chief Minister with support from the CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and United Socialist Party.
