PM Dahal briefs house on President Paudel’s foreign visit



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ reported that President Ramchandra Paudel’s recent visit to Switzerland and Germany has enhanced Nepal’s international standing.

During today’s House of Representatives meeting, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted that such high-level visits are crucial for implementing foreign policy.

President Paudel began his trip on June 11, attending the high-level segment of the 112th session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva.

Following the session, he departed Geneva for Germany on June 15.

In his address, Prime Minister Dahal noted that President Paudel engaged in bilateral talks with Swiss President Viola Amherd on June 12.

The discussions focused on Nepal-Switzerland bilateral relations and issues of mutual regional and international interest.

President Paudel urged the Swiss government to enhance its support for Nepal in areas such as information technology, food security, agriculture development, market access, investment, and trade.

On June 13, President Paudel addressed the high-level segment of the ILO session in Geneva.

He emphasized Nepal’s commitment to the international labor agreement and highlighted the country’s efforts to guarantee workers’ rights and welfare.

ILO Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo also paid a courtesy call on President Paudel, commending Nepal’s progress in various sectors, including social security.

During his visit to Germany, President Paudel attended presentations by organizations focused on climate change.

On June 17, he held bilateral talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, discussing various aspects of bilateral cooperation, trade and commerce, technology transfer, and Nepal-Germany relations.
