KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has issued an alert advising residents to remain vigilant due to heavy rainfall potentially causing sudden rises in small rivers.

The Division has reported that the monsoon system is currently affecting the eastern part of Nepal and has urged residents of Koshi Province to stay cautious.

Additionally, the influence of local air and a low-pressure area near Bihar, India, is partially affecting other regions.

According to the Division, provinces including Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati are experiencing widespread rainfall, while Gandaki Province is generally receiving scattered showers.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder has been observed in several areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as parts of Sudurpaschim Province since last night.

Rainfall has also been witnessed in some parts of Kathmandu Valley.

This afternoon, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with lightning in some areas of these provinces, with a chance of heavy rain in isolated spots of Koshi Province.
