Home Minister Lamichhane denies issuing threats in Parliament

Giribandhu Tea Estate case will be investigated: Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANUD: Addressing concerns raised in Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane asserted that he did not issue any threats while speaking in Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

Speaking to media at the Parliament premises on Monday, Home Minister Lamichhane clarified that his remarks in the House of Representatives merely cited instances from other cooperative cases where individuals were named in the media.

Expressing his willingness to cooperate with investigations, Lamichhane emphasized his readiness to probe the Giribandhu Tea Estate case and ensure that those responsible face consequences.

He underscored the need for a thorough investigation, stating that if allegations based on media reports warrant scrutiny, then all relevant parties should be subject to investigation.

Furthermore, Lamichhane highlighted the government’s commitment to address the concerns of cooperative victims, noting that while the Nepali Congress has shown reluctance to form a committee on the cooperative issue, a task force has already been established.

Commenting on recent political events, the Home Minister criticized the Nepali Congress for obstructing the Prime Minister’s vote of confidence, labeling it as a mockery of democracy.

He reiterated the Prime Minister’s right to seek a vote of confidence and emphasized the importance of upholding democratic processes.
