PM Dahal seeks vote of confidence amid NC obstruction

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda sought a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives today despite obstruction by the Nepali Congress.

The HoR meeting, initially adjourned for 15 minutes due to obstruction by the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has commenced.

NC lawmakers are vocally protesting, demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperative fraudulence.

Previously, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had implored opposition parties to desist from obstructing Parliament.

In a Business Advisory Committee meeting on Monday morning, Speaker Ghimire specifically appealed to Nepali Congress to allow proceedings to continue smoothly, particularly as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was slated to seek a vote of confidence.

Despite these entreaties, the Nepali Congress persisted in their obstruction, ultimately leading to the adjournment of the House session.
