KATHMANDU: Nepal has set a target of 140 runs for Hong Kong in the battle for the third position in the ACC Premier Cup held on Saturday.
Winning the toss earlier, Nepal opted to bat first.
In the 20 overs game, Nepal managed to score 139 runs, losing eight wickets in the process.
Dipendra Singh Airee made a significant contribution with 44 runs, supported by Sandeep Jora and Rohit Poudel with 22 and 21 runs respectively.
Ayush Shukla from Hong Kong claimed three wickets.
After facing defeats in their respective semifinal matches, with Nepal losing to UAE and Hong Kong to Oman, both teams are now contending for the third spot in the tournament.
The final match of the Premier Cup is scheduled between hosts Oman and UAE on Sunday. Nepal is eyeing the opportunity to secure a place in the Emerging Cup by winning the match for the third position.
The top three teams in the Premier Cup will earn the chance to compete in the ACC Emerging Cup.
