KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has revealed plans for the operational management of Nepal Airlines Corporation through the contract management.

The announcement was made during a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, coinciding with the golden jubilee of Dolpo Society and the inauguration of a new building.

During the event, Minister Kirati stated that a study team would be formed to oversee the corporation’s operations through effective management agreements.

He emphasized that the study team would work towards ensuring the corporation’s smooth operation, as he expressed his commitment to recognize and promote distinguished sectors in the tourism industry during the current fiscal year.

Additionally, Minister Kirati highlighted his plans to formulate cultural policies, construct tourism infrastructures, and amend tourism laws.

The minister also discussed plans for the operation, management, and construction of airports in various locations, including Kathmandu, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, and the construction of a new airport in public private partnership (PPP) model.

He mentioned the establishment of a quick study committee for these initiatives and emphasized the need to bring in 3.5 million tourists within 10 years, acknowledging the associated risks.

Minister Kirati mentioned that despite the formulation of tourism plans in the past, roadmaps were not developed, and he emphasized his personal commitment to address this issue.

He also highlighted the constitutional provision that recognizes all religions and cultures equally, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging everyone’s existence.

During the program, Minister Kirati outlined plans to gather fundamental information and establish facilities for tourists in Upper Dolpo.
