Investment Summit rescheduled for April 28-29

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Investment Board, headed by Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, has announced the revised dates for the upcoming third Investment Summit.

The decision was made during the second meeting of the directive committee held on Friday.

After initiating preparations in the previous meeting on November 26, the committee has now finalized the new dates for the summit on April 28 and 29. The earlier plan, set during the November 26 meeting, had scheduled the summit for March 21-22.

Sushil Bhatta, the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board, confirmed that the decision to reschedule the Investment Summit was made during a Cabinet meeting.

“In the Cabinet meeting, it was decided to reschedule the date for the Investment Summit to April 28 and 29. Accordingly, the summit dates have been finalized,” he stated. The government is committed to organizing the Investment Summit in collaboration with the private sector and development partners.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Mahat stressed the importance of expediting policy, legal, and procedural reforms, as well as project preparations, for the successful organization of the third Investment Summit. He also underscored that the summit aims to prioritize attracting foreign investors, non-resident Nepalis, and domestic private-sector investments.

The directive committee, led by Finance Minister Mahat, has called on the private sector to identify potential foreign investors and projects and to provide concrete suggestions for consideration. The committee is actively engaged in summit preparations, and a detailed presentation on the progress made so far was delivered during the meeting.
