Committee chair denies PM’s interference in anti-corruption bill

KATHMANDU: Ramhari Khatiwada, Chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives, has clarified that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has not interfered with the subcommittee’s report on the bill to amend the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act, 1991.

Khatiwada stated that the committee is working independently and described claims of the prime minister’s involvement as baseless propaganda.

He added that the source of such claims remains unknown.

The subcommittee’s report had proposed amendments to allow the commission to investigate decisions made by the Council of Ministers on non-policy matters.
