127 industries being operated in Hetauda industrial corridor

MAKAWANPUR: As many as 127 industries of different nature, including multinational companies are being operated in the Hetauda industrial corridor in the district.

Among the major industries established in the corridor are Food Industries Pvt Ltd, United Brewery Pvt Ltd, Nepal Biscuit Company, Nepal Soap Industry, Animal Feed Production Processing Industry, Nepal Pole Production Pvt Ltd and Wood Furniture.

Similarly, Gorkha Lahari Cigarette Industry Pvt Ltd, Hetauda Milk Distribution Project, Nepal Tea Leaf Industry Pvt Ltd, Nepal Edible Oil Production Industry, Nepal Cartoon Udyog Pvt Ltd, Nepal Bottlers Udyog Pvt Ltd and Nepal Wine Production Industries Pvt Ltd are also in operation in the corridor.

As informed, six old industries established in the corridor two decades ago were closed due to financial crisis and lack of raw materials.

Among the industries closed were Nepal Synthetic Textile Industry, Nepal Leather Industry Pvt Ltd, Nepal Livestock Pvt Ltd, Nepal Vanaspati Ghee, Nepal Polythene Plastic Pvt Ltd and Nepal Dana Udyog Pvt Ltd.

The Hetauda textile industry, owned by the Government of Nepal, has been closed since 2058 BS.

According to Ramesh Kumar Nepal, a senior official in the industrial sector, 12 industries, including multinational companies, are under setup in the industrial corridor.

The new ventures have expedited the construction work with the target of initiating production within the next two years.

Around 15,000 people, directly and indirectly, have got employment opportunities from various industries currently operating here.

The corridor was established by the then government in 2020 BS, some 61 years ago, with financial grants and technical support from the US government.

During the establishment of the industrial corridor, 3,228 ropanis of land was handed over to the Hetauda Industrial Corridor Management.
